The process of planting cabbage under bottles
To plant cabbage, you need to prepare low beds and plastic bottles with a pre-cut bottom.
The beds are made in the morning and watered abundantly. Planting can begin in a couple of hours. Also, to prevent pests and diseases, you need to mix baking soda with ground red pepper. You will need 2 teaspoons of pepper per package of soda. The powder is used sparingly, so you need to prepare a third or half of a pack, no more. Baking soda prevents cabbage clubroot, and pepper repels flies and other insects.
Next, a hole 5-7 cm deep is pressed into the bottom of a glass bottle. It is important that its bottom is flat without any depressions where seeds can fall through.
Half a teaspoon of powder spills along the edge of the hole.
3-4 cabbage seeds are planted in the center of the hole.
A tablespoon of humus or good soil from a gardening store is poured on top.
Then a bottomless plastic bottle with a lid is inserted into the hole. The sides need to be sprinkled with a little soil and compacted so that it does not fall from the wind.
The distance between the cabbage for normal growth of the head of cabbage should be 40-50 cm. This area can be used by planting with other plants that are not competitors for it. This could be dill on greens, carrots or salad. Many pests do not like the smell of dill, so such a neighborhood is preferable for cabbage.
Cabbage seedlings grow under a bottle with a closed lid, which prevents the penetration of pests, in particular fleas. With the advent of stable heat, the lids are opened so that the cabbage does not overheat. The bottles are kept until they become too tight for the plants. Watering is done from above. You can open the cap and pour water through the funnel inside. Having a bottle will allow you to get by with a small amount of water, since it will not spread to the sides. If the seeds turn out to be good and several plants sprout at once, the bottle is removed and the excess ones are removed. They can then be used as seedlings and transplanted to another location.
