If you ask a child of preschool or primary school age about the sights of his hometown that he knows, he will name the surrounding area. Rarely do parents take their kids on excursions around the city, citing the fact that they are too busy. Therefore, videos and illustrative material come to the aid of adults. But layouts evoke more emotions in children. You can make a miniature reality of those important places in the city that characterize its history.
You and your child can make a layout using photo or video files, impressions after a walk, or materials from scientific programs.
For work you need the following materials:
- - thick cardboard (size 1m by 1m);
- - colored paper;
- - book with hard pages (4 sheets);
- - PVA glue;
- - colored and white cardboard;
- - scissors;
- - modeling dough (or plasticine).
Making a city model
First you need to prepare the basis for the layout. Take thick cardboard measuring 1x1 m and a book with thick pages, no more than 4 sheets.

The pages will be opened, and so the future layout will have four separate segments.

The entire book must be covered with blue colored paper.

Cover the thick cardboard with green color, creating a certain texture out of the paper. Then glue the book onto the green base.

Use the white dough to form clouds. And from brown and green - trees, bushes and spruce.

Then start making landmarks for your city.
For example, you can make a church. The base is 5 hexagonal prisms glued together from white cardboard and connected to each other. On top there are 5 towers made of cardboard and black plasticine with domes made of yellow dough, painted with golden paint. Windows and crosses are cut out of black paper.

Another example is a red brick temple. For the base, you can take a rectangular juice box and cover it with orange cardboard with a brick pattern. The shape of the domes must be conveyed using silver-colored cardboard.

There are theaters in any city - this is also an important place for human cultural development. The base of the building is a rectangular prism, on which the roof is a triangular prism. In the foreground there are columns made of white paper and small steps made of cardboard.

What is a city without a military theme? Some have a tank at the entrance, and some have guns. They are easy to make from plasticine using photos or drawings. The cannon is placed on a pedestal made of brown cardboard.

Here's a top view of the layout.

The child will sit for hours near the model, examine its edges and think, remember and fantasize.
Let it stand in the baby’s room and he will choose which type he likes best.

And when guests gather at home, the little guide will tell them educational stories from the life of his hometown, which will be preserved in his memory for many years. This is how patriotism is instilled from an early age!
